The fascinating art of capturing a likeness. We will look at anatomy, proportion, tone and colour mixing - moving from rapid sketches to finished portraits. A class for students of all abilities working in a range of mediums from charcoal and pastels to watercolour and oils.
Tutor: John Glover, a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, has been teaching drawing and painting for many years. His work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery and at other venues.
"In this increasingly transient age, portraiture with its variety of mediums, is accessible to all and an ideal vehicle for capturing such significant occasions or people for posterity. Whether it be the permanence and power of oils, the softness of a pastel, the delicacy of a pencil drawing or the luminosity of a watercolour, one often finds that the character or age of the sitter suggest the medium best suited to express it."
